The West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility (WVVNF), opened in 2008, is a 100,000 square foot, 120-bed, facility that utilizes the most advanced equipment and innovative designs to provide full-spectrum nursing home care to West Virginia's veterans.
Resident rooms include full-function hospital grade remote control beds and nurse call lights, along with free Wi-Fi, cable TV and long distance calling. Forty private rooms are available including twenty private Alzheimer’s/Dementia (AD) Unit rooms. Residents have access to four congregate whirlpool walk-in bath tubs, a large therapy room, and an exercise room. The facility is monitored 24/7 with indoor/outdoor security cameras, and two wheelchair capable buses are available to transport residents to medical appointments and recreational activities.
The facility is physically attached to the Federal VA Medical Center, so emergency care is convenient. Additionally, the WVVNF has its own highly trained staff including a full-time physician and 24/7 Registered Nurse coverage. There is also an on-site pharmacist and pharmacy, ten recreational assistants, a recreational director and a full-time chaplain.
On average, our veteran residents pay just $1,500 per month compared to the national monthly average of more than $6,000. The most any veteran at our facility will pay out of pocket is $3,000 per month.
